Activities

Formation and Support of Self Help Groups (SHGs)

SHGs are small, voluntary groups of women from similar socio-economic backgrounds who come together to save regularly and access microcredit. The trust facilitates their formation, provides financial literacy, and links them to credit through Rashtriya Mahila Kosh schemes, empowering women with income-generating opportunities.

Vocational Training and Skill Development

To increase employability and entrepreneurship among rural youth and women, the trust can run vocational training centers focusing on tailoring, food processing, handicrafts, computer skills, and other trades. These centers can be funded under STEP (Support to Training and Employment Programme) or NABARD schemes.

Microcredit and Revolving Loan Funds

By establishing a revolving fund, the trust provides small, interest-free or low-interest loans to women or underprivileged groups for starting or expanding micro-enterprises. This activity promotes self-reliance and can be linked to food security and economic sustainability.

Health and Nutrition Awareness Programs

Organize camps and workshops focusing on maternal health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS awareness, menstrual hygiene, and sanitation. These can be aligned with the Community Food and Nutrition Extension Units (CENEUS) and involve partnerships with local healthcare providers.

Education Support and Scholarships

The trust can provide scholarships, stipends, school supplies, and remedial coaching to children from economically weaker sections, especially girls and children with disabilities, to reduce dropout rates and promote inclusive education.

Relief and Rehabilitation Services

Offer emergency aid and long-term support to individuals and families affected by natural disasters (like floods, earthquakes, or epidemics), including temporary shelters, food, medical aid, and counseling. This aligns with the Death Relief & Rehabilitation Fund Scheme.

Housing and Infrastructure Support

Through schemes like Samagra Awaas Yojana and Credit-Cum-Subsidy for Rural Housing, the trust can support the construction or repair of homes, hostels for working women with day care centers, and sanitation facilities in rural areas.

Promotion of Rural Entrepreneurship and Market Access

Facilitate training and seed funding for rural artisans, women entrepreneurs, and farmers. Provide access to markets through exhibitions, fairs, and online platforms. NABARD’s rural development and marketing schemes can support these initiatives.
